Beyond the carved pumpkins, ghoulish costumes & bowls of sweets, before the church’s appropriation of this day, we have the pagan celebration of Samhain.

Samhain, a Gaelic word meaning ‘end of the summer’, is where we usher in and pay homage to the darker winter months to come. The earth has died and gone dormant, marking the end of the harvest. A time of remembrance for our ancestors and those dearly departed; we are able to draw them in close for a seat at the table as the veil between the worlds is thinned.

Welcoming in the dark and talking to the dead, of course this sabbat falls during Scorpio season. The cyclical nature of existence; those themes of death and rebirth are the area in which Scorpio thrives. As the leaves fall and vegetation dies back, let Mother Nature show you the deeper meaning that can lifted from the seasonal shifts. Decay and death is an inevitability, it cannot be stopped, we cannot fight against it - it shall come to us all.

Take some time this evening to honour death, in whatever way it is most dominant in your reality. Whether that be commemorating a deceased loved one, paying tribute to an aspect of yourself or your life that is no longer, or perhaps simply in gratitude for the warmer months just passed. However death is present with you today, delve deeply into this connection, and allow space for the lessons it brings.

Samhain blessings to you all.
