Welcoming Lammas, The First Harvest

1st August, the Turning of the Wheel

Grains have grown and berries are sweetening, the first harvest arrives. This turning of the wheel marks the halfway point between the Summer Solstice and Autumn Equinox. An invitation to look at and assess what you’ve achieved since spring.

As we gather the first bountiful gifts of the harvest, we celebrate the Earth’s abundance with gratitude in our hearts. Take time to pause and appreciate the hard work, patience and care required to nurture both the land and ourselves.

What we tend to and grow sustains our life; we reap what we sow. Consider what dreams and intentions have unfolded for you during the course of the year.

Have the seeds you planted bloomed?

Do some still need some time to unfurl?

Did some never even take root?

As the golden evenings continue to shorten, the waning power of the Sun King is reflected in the fading light. He bows to the Mother Goddess, who carries the fruits of their union, as he slowly edges closer to the earth. We are shifting yang to yin, from grain to seed; the transference of energy is moving from the outer world to the inner.

Take a moment to express gratitude for the gifts of the land, and all that has come to fruition in your own life. Celebrate your harvest, no matter the size, and begin to turn your attention inward.

It is now we start listening for the wisdom that will guide the quieter seasons ahead.

Wheel turns are always a great time to honour a new cycle within yourself, especially with the recent Nodal switch. Explore my 1-1 sessions here.
